> Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) (course 1)

Description
This course is designed as an introduction to teaching. You do not need to be a teacher or have classroom contact. However, this course is also useful for experienced teachers or assessors delivering underpinning skills. If you wish to progress to the Certificate in Teaching and ultimately the Diploma in Teaching, this course is mandatory.

Having carried out a training needs analysis for organisations across the area, we have developed a training programme to respond to a wide range of needs and requests.

Our training diary is updated monthly and can be found in our newsletter. It gives specific details of ESSU, national and local training available and how to register for the courses.

Customised Training as well as our planned training, we are also able to customise training events to suit particular needs and requests for organisations. This training can take place ‘in-house’, within the organisations themselves, or in convenient locations across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Interested in working with basic skills learners?
 
Since September 2002, new recommendations have applied for individuals wishing to work as basic skills tutors, learning support assistants or volunteers. New qualifications at 3 levels have been introduced, along with new guidelines for roles of those working with basic skills learners. Tutor training resources for you to access

Level 3 Resource Boxes

The ESSU has created a range of modules that can be used when training tutors. The modules are entitled ‘Working Towards Level 3 Subject Specific Qualifications…’ and are available for Literacy and Numeracy. The modules have been mapped to the new FENTO Level 3 Subject Specifications and are designed for those who will want to access the new Level 3 or Level 4 Subject Qualifications.
There are 11 modules that have been created, each with a detailed Scheme of Work , Session Plans and all accompanying resources. Each module consists of 6 hours of delivery.
The titles of the Modules are as follows:
