Training for Tutors
Having carried out a training needs analysis for organisations across the area, we have developed a training programme to respond to a wide range of needs and requests. Our training diary is updated monthly and can be found in our newsletter. It gives specific details of ESSU, national and local training available and how to register for the courses. Customised Training – as well as our planned training, we are also able to customise training events to suit particular needs and requests for organisations. Since September 2002, new recommendations have applied for individuals wishing to work as basic skills tutors, learning support assistants or volunteers. New qualifications at 3 levels have been introduced, along with new guidelines for roles of those working with basic skills learners. The modules are entitled ‘Working Towards Level 3 Subject Specific Qualifications…’ and are available for Literacy and Numeracy. The modules have been mapped to the new FENTO Level 3 Subject Specifications and are designed for those who will want to access the new Level 3 or Level 4 Subject Qualifications. There are 11 modules that have been created, each with a detailed Scheme of Work , Session Plans and all accompanying resources. Each module consists of 6 hours of delivery.
